Vishuddha
Throat Chakra ~ Center of Purity

Element: Ether / space (the night sky)
Bija Mantra (activator): HAM
Attributes: Pure consciousness, creativity from the divine, awakening of divine inspiration, ever-expansive space, akasha, intuition, inspiration, eternity and time
Physical body: Vocal chords, listening systems, hearing, oesophagus, pharynx
Part one – inner work: start asking the questions
This chakra enters realm of Consciousness and awareness, moving towards enlightenment. Consciousness is no longer restrained by the limitations of the first four chakras.
Purity of Vishuddha is not in a dualistic state. It is related to akasha, ether, where time (past-present-future) is all in one duration. With the inverse of our reality (non-physicality) you begin to experience time in a whole new way.
As the growth of consciousness moves up through the Chakras, limitations begin to dissolve.
- Densely pack earth
- Fluid water
- Engulfing fire
- Expansive air
- Ever-expansive space
Removing ourselves from the conditioning of our beliefs and perspectives allows us to understand awareness and consciousness. That’s why it is important to move through the chakras step by step – looking at each one individually.
Aquiring a superior state of receptiveness
Misconceptions around communication and Vishuddha. A block in communication has been related to the Throat Chakra in many modern yoga teachers. Considering that Vishuddha Chakra is actually beyond the limitations of reality, this chakra cannot be blocked. People mistake these ‘blockages’ for a lack of awareness in the chakra. There are initiations that must take place in the lower chakras in order to access the gate of Vishuddha.
When considering communication challenges (ill-intentions, speach bringing harm to others, insecurities) one must look back at the lower chakras.
The way into Vishuddha is through the heart. Once we go into the heart, the path is forward into the realm of Vishuddha.
Considering the capacity of interpreting sacred messages. Going deeper into awareness and conscious through Vishuddha gives you access to knowledge and wisdom beyond what you can comprehend. What comes through speech then, is a representation of this wisdom.
Much of our speech comes through Svadhisthana (the waters of our being – connected to the tongue).
Vishuddha acts as a beacon to connect to Svadhisthana and the lower chakras in a way to bring purity through the body.
Part two: implementing behaviours in daily life that reflect on inner work
Learn to understand Vishuddha through deep meditative practices.
The act of doing the practices will help the energy body to open.
Let go of attachments to body, the traumas and attachments that are present there.
Kundalini is a great way to explore the chakras and understand Vishuddha.
When considering Kundalini, it’s important to understand where you are getting the teaching from.
The ascended masters are in the higher realms and looking down to see who the next initiates will be and who is ready to move into the next realm.
Take time, slow down, meditate, listen.
