Svadhisthana

Sacral Chakra ~ Country of emotions / the seat of our emotions

“Yoga traditionally is about exploration and experimentation.”

Element: water (all in you that is fluid)

Yantra/Symbol:

6 red pedals, Golden/light brown symbols, two figures, an alligator, a grey crescent moon with the points up (represents the cradle of the pelvic floor)

The milky white / light grey moon represents the reproductive fluids.

Bija Mantra (activator): Vam

Great when you are focusing on the yantra and the location

Attributes: pleasure, creativity, freedom, fun, money, passion, desire

This has been one of most controversial chakras because of how it correlates to sexual energy and reproduction. It can often be inundated with ‘inadvertent pressure’ to be hyper-sexualized. How, as an individual, can we have open expression of Svadhisthana without it being hi-jacked by society, media, etc.

Yoga as a preparation:

Rather than arousal from the centre to be spontaneous and out of nowhere, the arousal can be simulated through the practice by doing particular asanas and pranayama’s which helps build a relationship with the energy changes.

That way, you have the opportunity to direct it consciously into things that you are being creative about. You are then at the helm (driving seat) of where this energy goes into.

These energetic and physical fluids are the creative building blocks to forming human life. The utilization of this force within to create life is up to the individual.

Stagnancy in the body:

Think of any kind of water that sits still; it becomes stagnant, grows algae and all sorts of stuff. When the waters of your being are without flow that stagnant energy starts to affect your psychology and physiology.

Create the relationship with our bodies and enable there to be flow instead of sexual suppression, oppression and repression. These all come with insecurities and doubts.

Consider the different states of water as a reflection of our sexual energy:

Ice: cold, burns

Steams: surprising, scalding sometimes

Water: moulds to environment. Takes shape to container

This can also be a very healing energy. It is possible to re-organize the body and heal it in such a profound way that it is miraculous.
