About Kaliegh

Meet the founder and creative spirit behind Earth City Soul

The Journey

Kaliegh is a wild woman, a passionate creator and community-builder. Her reverence for nature was ignited on a camping trip in grade school where she spent 3 days in the Northern Alberta wilderness; hiking, canoeing, fishing and learning about native medicinal plants.

She had the opportunity to attend various outdoor programs during school, further deepening her connection to nature. The friendships that would form on those trips were unlike any of those she would make back in the city and she followed the call to start working at a local ski hill in the winters and a bike shop in the summers before following her passions to the mountains full-time. “I am forever grateful for the schools and teachers for putting energy and resources into providing memorable outdoor experiences for us youth!

Growing up, art, music and dance also played a significant role in Kaliegh’s life. She would spend countless hours playing piano and singing with her dad and took a variety of dance lessons including: ballet, tap, jazz and lyrical. Kaliegh maintained a consistent art practice; sketching, painting and finding freedom of expression on paper and canvas. Her artwork often explores the inter-connectedness between humans and the natural world.

Kaliegh’s path to yoga began with a junior high school councillor who provided a guided mindfulness meditation to students before exams. When she was seventeen, she joined a friend for a 30-day sunrise series following her first heartbreak. Yoga became a pillar to turn to in times of challenge or change and now acts as the foundation for her life as a way to maintain balance in her body, mind and spirit.

Today

Kaliegh has completed a Diploma in Adventure Tourism Business Operations, multiple certifications in a variety of outdoor pursuits and her 200h Yoga Teacher Training. Over the years, she has spent hundreds of days on backpacking trails and canoe trips and thousands of days on the snow with her snowboard strapped to her feet. She is an avid adventurer and artist with over a decade of experience working, living and playing in the wilderness while simultaneously expressing herself through the visual arts and music. She is currently studying herbalism, nourishing her passion for nature as medicine and has facilitated numerous community events such as poetry nights, jam nights, authentic relating circles, women’s circles, and consent workshops.

Through all of Kaliegh’s adventures, she has learned the importance of taking care of her body, mind and spirit through the practice of presence and yoga.
