Part One : Inner work – Start Asking Questions
A healthy heart chakra allows us to love deeply, feel compassion for ourselves and others and remain rooted in a deep sense of peace and centeredness. The element of air is unlimited. Devotion to the heart is an invitation to expand your spiritual awareness. Energetic blocks related to this chakra may lead to feelings of isolation, lack of empathy, difficulties forming close moetional bonds. It may also result in being overly possessive, overly self-sacrificing or becoming emotionally dependent on others for validation.
A dance of polarities related to love:
- mind / body
- male / female
- persona / shadow
- ego / unity
To have an open and loving heart does not come without discernment. This means that with Inclusivity (all things are God), one must have a sense of Individuation (each thing has a unique nature). Consider the Rose bush (symbol of love). On the top of the bush is a beautiful soft flower and in the underbrush; a thorny stem. It is a reminder that healthy love is a dance of polarities.
Anahata requires devotion to spirit. It requires faith and trust. To go beyond, the first three chakras, you have to have connected with the lessons.
Have you done the work to become aware of the shadowy patterns and behaviours that cause challenges to the heart?
Mulhadara, earth: instability to stability
Svadhisthana, water: insecurity to harmonious sexual energy
Manipurna, fire: wild desire to focused and productive independent energy
Air and Earth: soil needs air to allow anything to grow. If it were fully dense there would be no movement, not place to grow.
Air and Water: In order for water to be a liquid it needs oxygen.
Air and Fire: Oxygen and fuel are needed to start a fire.
Anahata: Now let go and surrender. When in conscious awareness, this chakra can take care of maintaining the relationship between the lower three.
As you are called to go deeper into the heart, this becomes the gateway to the upper chakras.
What gifts have you offered to your community?
What are the ways you have truly let love in?
Can you feel a deep connection between all living beings and the earth?
Are you able to express your boundaries in a loving way?
Can you put yourself in another person’s shoes in times of challenge?
Part Two : Implementing behaviours in daily life that reflect your inner work
Heart opening asana’s, pranayama and meditation can help begin to move stagnant energy.
Allow yourself to love deeply: Practice Gratitude. Morning or evening gratitude pages are a beautiful way to begin or end a day.
Allow yourself to grieve and release fully: emotional releases are exceptionally good for the body.
Be fully open to give and receive love: engage in acts of compassion and get out into your community
Celebrate saying no with loving discernment: witness how discernment with an open heart, leads to deeper connection and trust
