“Energy goes where attention flows”

Virgo means “Virgin” in Latin.
The constellation Virgo, often depicted as a maiden holding a sheaf of wheat, is linked to various goddesses and myths, including Demeter, Persephone, and Dike which represents themes of harvest, fertility, innocence and justice.
Spica is the brightest star in the constellation of Virgo. The name Spica comes from the Latin spīca virginis, which means “ear of grain.”

Virgo was said to have lived amongst us during the Golden Age (Yuga Cycle). The Golden Age was marked by prosperity and peace, everlasting spring, and humans never knowing old age. When Zeus fulfilled the old prophecy and overthrew his father, the event marked the beginning of the Silver Age, which was not as prosperous. Zeus introduced the four seasons and humans no longer honoured the gods as they had used to. Virgo (Dike in this instance) gave a speech to the entire race, warning them about the dangers of leaving behind the ideals of their predecessors and saying worse was yet to come. She then flew to the mountains, turning her back on humans. When the Bronze and Iron Ages came and humans started warring among themselves, she left the Earth altogether, and flew to the heavens.
In Hindu cosmology, the Yuga Cycle is the cyclical timeline of cosmic or divine ages (Satya – Gold, Treta-Silver, Dwapara-Bronze and Kali-Iron). It represents the life stages of the universe and holds specific qualities and characteristics. Currently, we are said to be in the Kali Yuga ascending back towards the Golden Age.

Virgo is an earth sign represented by the goddess of wheat and agriculture; an association that speaks to Virgo’s deep-rooted presence in the material world. This myth may point to tradition and the need to remember rooted values of being as a way of sustaining life. Virgos are logical, practical, and systematic in their approach to life. This earth sign is a perfectionist at heart and isn’t afraid to improve their skills through diligent and consistent practice; skills that are very much needed to tend to this earth in a good way.
